A Space Age Technology in your Home
Tactex was established in 1998 to commercialize Kinotex® - a proprietary pressure sensing technology developed by the Canadian Space Agency. Throughout its history, Tactex has worked to bring the unique sensing properties of Kinotex® to a number of consumer and research applications including music input devices, advanced keyboards, automotive components and medical sensors.
In 2003, Tactex introduced the Tactex BOS or Bed Occupancy Sensor. With its durable construction and highly sensitive properties, the BOS proved to be a leading sensor technology for monitoring bed entry and exit routines for fall and wandering prevention programs in nursing homes and care facilities. This basic technology has since been refined to create the Tactex BEDsensor ™ product line for use by medical professionals and research facilities. The BEDsensor ™ suite currently includes a number of products that effectively monitor the small and gross motor movements of a bed occupant.
With the introduction of the SLEEPsensing ™ system in 2008, Tactex has combined its
BEDsensor ™ technology with years of experience developing movement analysis systems for the healthcare industry. Our goal is to create a portable, user-friendly sleep monitor for the growing community of in-home caregivers and sleep-deprived North-Americans.
